Spatially resolved observations of exoplanet atmospheres can provide key insights into their dynamics and composition. In this talk, I will present the first application of the TERMINATOR code to transmission spectroscopy of the hot Jupiter HD 189733b; employing a geometric integration scheme to map atmospheric wind velocities and sodium absorption across the planetary limb using high-resolution spectral data. I will discuss the methodology, show preliminary results from HARPS observations, and evaluate the code’s performance in recovering wind patterns and chemical inhomogeneities. These advancements may pave the way for broader applications to other exoplanets, with prospects for integration with JWST observations.
