AG awards 2025
Also this year the Astronomical Society (AG) is awarding people with significant contributions to the filed of astronomy with prestigious prizes. For the following awards suggestions may be submitted:
Ludwig-Biermann-Prize 2025
The Ludwig-Biermann-Prize is awarded by the AG to an outstanding young astronomer, who finished their PhD within the last six years. The award consists of a certificate and a prize money of 3,000€, which will allow the awardee to visit an institut of choice for a research visit.
Doctoral thesis award 2025
The AG awards a young astronomer, who has submitted an excellent PhD-thesis within the last year, with the doctoral thesis award. The prize consist of a certificate and a prize money of 1,000€.
Instrument development award 2025
The prize for instrument development is awarded for the design, development, construction or upgrade of an instrument used for significant astrophysical results. Again the prize includes a certificate and a prize money of 3,000€. This prize is awarded in an alternating mode together with the award for astrophysical software development.
We request AG members to submit proposals for the previously mentioned awards to the president by April 30th 2025. Proposals have to be submitted in written form including a justification. Please submit proposals for all the above awards and send them to the president via email. Details concerning the awards can be found in the statutes of the awards.
